A. Identify the major areas in Texas history and describe their defining characteristics.

The student is expected to:

Specifically:

· Texas Revolution
· Republic of Texas
· Annexation
· Texas and the Civil War
· Reconstruction
· World War II

B. Apply absolute and relative chronology through the sequencing of significant individuals, events and time periods.

Specifically:

· Timeline

C. Explain the Significance of the following dates: 1519, 1718 (a and b), 1821, 1836, 1845 (a and b), and 1861.

 

ACTIVITY:

The student will identify each of the above listed dates on the "Historical Timeline Worksheet" and briefly describes the significance of each. The student will also choose an additional six dates, place them on the timeline, and briefly describe why he/she thinks that the date is significant for understanding Texas history.
