Five Centuries of Texas Maps. The Center for Texas Studies at TCU
invites you to use these educational resources to enhance your understanding
and appreciation of the exhibit. These materials provide students with
educational activities and teachers with classroom curricula and instructional
links that are ideal for preparing students for museum visits or follow-up
activities.
An
Introduction presents a brief look at the importance of maps and cartography.
The
Introduction is followed by 9 categories of Texas history as illustrated
by maps. Color images are included along with discussion suggestions
to use prior to or after your visit to the Museum.
The
suggested Activities are a series of projects that may be used in
conjunction with your Musuem visit. They provide a way of extending
the interaction with the Museum Objects in the areas of Art, Language,
Social Studies, and Math.
Finally,
there is a list of the Texas Education Agency's Texas Essential Knowledge
and Skills (TEKS) that correlates with the skills, goals, and opportunities
that are developed during studying the education material and a tour
of the Exhibition
