Texas Maps Exhibition

Following up its success with the Texas Flags Exhibit, the Center for Texas Studies at TCU is partnering with the Museum of the Big Bend at Sul Ross State University to produce a traveling exhibit of Texas maps from the Yana and Marty Davis collection at Sul Ross State University. The exhibit will consist of 64 historic otherwise significant maps and will complement, not duplicate, Martin and Martin's Maps of Texas and the Southwest.

The exhibit will travel to 10-12 different venues over a period of two years. It will begin in Dallas at the Hall of State with the Dallas Historical Society and will conclude at the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame in Fort Worth. Other potential venues are located in Waco, San Antonio, Canyon, Galveston, McAllen, Abilene, Midland, Lubbock, El Paso, and of the Museum of the Big Bend at Sul Ross State University in Alpine.

Via the TCU Press, TCU will prepare and publish an exhibit catalogue that will include color plates and descriptions of each map, as well as essays by recognized historians and cartographers. The book will be available for sale at each venue with the standard book dealers' discount from Texas A&M Press, the distributor for TCU Press.
