The Center for Texas Studies at TCU
proudly announces the
The Texas Biography Series encourages modern, scholarly biographies of notable Texas figures. While illustrious individuals such as Sam Houston and Stephen F. Austin have received the attention their lives and contributions to Texas history merit, many lesser known Texans helped shape the character of the Lone Star State. This series focusses on scholarly works about these outstanding Texans, with emphasis on making their stories accessible to the general public with an interest in Texas history.
The series, made possible by a generous grant from Houston Endowment and published by TCU Press will begin in 2007 with four volumes:
Emily Austin: Sister to an Empire by Light T. Cummins
Adina de Zavala: Pioneer Preservationist by Richard Bruce Winders
Edmund J. Davis: Civil War General, Radical Republican, Governor of Texas by Carl H. Moneyhon
John S. "Rip" Ford: Fighting for Texas by Richard B. McCaslin
