Center for Texas Studies helps sponsor Red Steagall event

In October 2002 the Center for Texas Studies served as one sponsor for the Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering and Western Swing Festival. The event, which promotes western heritage and the cowboy way of life, provided a fitting backdrop for Red Steagall to announce the creation of the Center for Texas Studies.

The event began on Sunday, October 20, with the Trail Ride and Wagon Train leaving Jacksboro, Texas; it arrived in Fort Worth on Friday, October 25. The remainder of the weekend was filled with rodeos, cowboy music and poetry, and the Ranch Cutting Horse Association National Finals at the Cowtown Coliseum. The event is scheduled for October 24-26, 2003.
